Maria Franco's Mother of All Blogs

"And suddenly you know: It's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings."

For posterity's sake, I'd just like to say that I'm not new to blogging even though this is a technically new blog site. I've actually been around the blogosphere since 2003. It originally started with Blogspot and I did a few other social media blogs like Friendster, MySpace, Multiply, LiveJournal, Tumblr, and even Xanga. I think I even cross-posted some of them to my Facebook Notes a few years back. Most of them are gone now when those services closed. Come to think of it, that was the reason why I did the whole Wordpress move in 2016 because I wanted to save my blog posts by hosting them myself.

As it turned out, I had writer's block and didn't have time to update it much except for the occasional paid/sponsored and PR posts because... well, life happened! I thought that was it and my blogging life was done for. I couldn't get my creative juices flowing. Not that I was bored but I think writing is like that, for me at least.

So, why am I here again creating a new blog? Simple answer, I missed blogging. I love to write and I have things to say. This whole blogging thing started a long time ago when I just wanted an online space for my verbal diarrhea. Le husband NoodleBoy even said if only we were rich, I wouldn't have to bury myself with work and I'll just be lounging on a beach with my Mac and writing my stories. Oh, well, that's going to stay on the bucket list for now. But hear me, Universe... it's really my heart's desire to be able to do just that.

Anyway, because I used to keep journals growing up and then technology suddenly came into my life, I obviously adapted. So, I treated my blog as a digital diary. Most of my old blog photos though are non-existent because those had been hosted in Photobucket, Tinypic, and Imageshack. Some were fortunately uploaded to Picasa and Flickr, so I can still Google some of them.

Times are changing and who knows how long Blogger will be here, yet here I am because, let's face it, it's FREE. I can't afford to host a new blog right now because I'm not doing reviews (yet?), and I'm not earning from ads. Perhaps in the future, I'll go through the whole WP and self-hosting route again. Then again, I don't want to pressure myself into doing reviews as a beauty blogger and other money-making moves to keep the blog alive. The last time I checked, my old blog was getting a lot of hits.

Right now, I'm just going to enjoy writing a blog the way I did back when I started — not thinking about the views it will get but more for my own personal consumption, a record, or documentation as I enjoy middle life and growing old. I guess I'll just have to back up this blog every now and then, so I don't lose anything. Just a tiny hiccup but not a problem. Like I always say, "Don't sweat the small stuff."
